HONOLULU – The No. 52 University of Hawai'i (5-4) women's tennis team continues their month-long homestand with two matches this week against Montana State (3-3) and No. 21 Texas Tech (9-2) at the UH Tennis Complex.
The Rainbow Wahine went 2-1 last week with the last two against No. 14 Michigan and Iowa State being shortened because of many rain delays. Hawai'i swept Eastern Michigan, 7-0, lost to the Wolverines, 4-2, then bounced the Cyclones, 5-1. Jaime Pawid is in the No. 3 slot in her first year and has worked out well, going 5-2. Pawid is tied with
Xenia Suworowa in wins (6) so far this season.
The Raiders come to Hawai'i with an impressive 6-2 record against ranked teams. They are led by No. 122 Elizabeth Ulathorne in singles and by the duo of No. 47 Kenna Kilgo and Samantha Adams. Nikki Sanders has recorded the best overall record for the Raiders in singles, 9-0, playing mostly in the No. 6 slot.
The Bobcats are on a two-game winning streak, sweeping both Portland State and Montana State-Billings at home. Ellie Crum and Andrea De La Torre share the team-lead in wins at 4-2. The best doubles pairing for the Bobcats has been Gabi Villegas and Andrea De La Torre who are 3-1. They are 2-0 in the No. 2 slot and 1-1 at No. 3 slot.
