HONOLULU—The No. 54 University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (8-6) continues its 11-match homestand this Friday against UC Davis (5-9) at 11:00 am at the UH Tennis Complex.
The Rainbow Wahine, who were off last week, have won their last three-of-four matches, notching wins over Montana State, Illinois State, and No. 59 Wyoming. Their lone loss came to No. 19 Notre Dame which was a match in which the final outcome (6-1) was not indicative of how close the matches were.
Hawai'i is led by senior
Barbara Pinterova in the No. 1 singles slot where she has won four of her last five matches and 6-4 overall. Junior
Katarina Poljakova is at No. 2 with a 5-3 record while freshman
Jamie Pawid has been solid in the No. 3 slot with a 7-4 record. Fellow freshman
Martina Kostalova has been playing at the No. 4 position with an overall record of 7-6, while sophomore
Xenia Suworowa (5-2) and senior
Aglae Van den Bergh (5-5) are holding strong at the No. 5 & 6 slots respectively.
UC Davis has won two of their last three matches with wins over UC Riverside and Weber State. The Aggies' No. 1 doubles team of Kelly Chui and Megan Heneghan is 6-8 overall. Henegahan is also 3-3 in the No. 1 singles slot along with Dahra Zamudio who started at No. 1 but has played No. 2 the last six matches successfully with a 5-1 record. Chui has played all 14 matches in the No. 3 spot with a 8-5 record while Lauren Curry is 7-4 at the No. 4 position. No's 5 and 6 has been a combination of three players—Elle Edles, Melissa Kobayakawa, Nicole Koehly, and Layla Sanders.
