Women’s Golf Completes Inaugural ‘Anuenue Classic

KAPALUA, Maui – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team completed its inaugural 'Anuenue Spring Break Classic with a 11th place finish, Tuesday at The Bay Course.
 
The Rainbow Wahine shot a final round 316 for a 955 total. Colorado captured the tournament title with a 889 total, two strokes better than California.  Tennessee was third at 892. Individually, Cal's Daniela Holmqvist went wire-to-wire for a four-stroke win over Punahou School graduate Alina Ching of Oregon. Holmqvist completed the three rounds at 2-under 214 while Ching shot 2-over 218 after a final round 77.
 
UH's top individual finisher was sophomore Charlee Kapiioho, who shot a final round 76 for a 237 total (80-81-76) and tie for 42nd place. Maui native Liana Otake shot a final round 79 for a 239 total (79-81-79) and tie for 47th with teammate Ka'ili Britos (83-77-79), who also shot 79 on Tuesday.
 
Also competing for UH were Erika Lundberg (78-80-82=240/51st) and Brigitte Baker (83-83-91=257/75th).
 
Competing as individuals were UH's Madeleine Ystrom (85-76-80=241/T52nd), Anna DePalma (88-83-84=255/T71st), and Megan Inouye (87-81-88=256/T73rd).
 
The tournament was the first UH women's event held on the Valley Island.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Western Athletic Conference Championships, April 23-25 in Mesa, Ariz.
