WAILUKU, Maui – In front of a capacity crowd at War Memorial Stadium on Friday night, the University of Hawai'i and Nebraska women's volleyball teams treated Maui to top-notch volleyball action. The Rainbow Wahine, who were playing their second and final Spring match, came up on the losing end however, dropping the four sets the two team's played. Set scores were 25-23, 25-16, 25-15, 25-16.

Maui County's finest were on display with Ginger Long (Kihei, Maui) and Kalei Adolpho (Ho'olehua, Molokai) exciting the crowd with their every touch of the ball. Adolpho finished the match with four kills.

The 'Bows were led by Emily Hartong who posted 18 kills and a pair of blocks. Jane Croson had eight kills and two digs, and Jade Vorster and Mita Uiato both had five blocks. Uiato also recorded 34 assists.

Nebraska had a team total 23 blocks led by Morgan Broekhuis who rejected nine UH attacks. Hannah Werth put down 15 kills and recorded 17 digs, and Paige Hubl had a match-high 19 digs.

Hawai'i struggled throughout, but nearly pulled off a win in set one. UH opened the match with a pair of Croson kills, but would fall behind 15-11 midway through the set. The 'Bows would stave off four Nebraska set points before falling 25-23.

UH was competitive early in the second set, which featured one of the best rallies of the match. After back and forth play, Hartong rocketed home a kill that sent the crowd into a frenzy and cut the lead to 11-9. The momentum would be short-lived as Nebraska raced to the win.

The 'Bows conclude Spring play and now set their sights on the 2012 season and a return to the Big West Conference.
