Warrior Golf In 12th At Barona Collegiate; Play Suspended Due To Darkness

Round 1 Results

LAKESIDE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team is currently in 12th place after one round of play at the Barona Collegiate Cup in Lakeside, Calif. after shooting an opening round 361.  Round two was not completed due to darkness.

Leading the Warriors is junior Cory Oride who is tied for 27th place after shooting a 2-under 70 during round one of competition. The Kaua'i native now has seven rounds under-par on the season which ranks as the second highest on the team.

After struggling for the past two tournaments, senior T.J. Kua found himself in the red again for the 10th time this season and is currently in a tie for 34th at 1-under 71. Also competing for UH are sophomores David Saka (72/t46th) and Tommy Yamashita (73/t55th), and freshmen Brian Lee (75/t78th) and Ryan Kuroiwa (77/t89th).

Kent State leads the field at 343 and is closely followed by second place North Texas at 344. St. Mary's Anders Engell leads all individuals after firing a first round 8-under 64.

Play will conclude tomorrow with the finish of round two, which will be immediately followed by the third and final round.
