Day 1 Results
KANE'OHE, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team is currently tied for sixth place after day one of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course in Kane'ohe, O'ahu.
The Rainbow Wahine struggled early in the day as they finished round one in 10th place at 318. The team responded with an afternoon rally as they fired a season best 299 which was also the best second round score among the field.
Leading the afternoon charge was senior
Erika Lundberg and sophomore Charlee Kapiioho who each carded a second round 74 after carding first round scores of 78 and 79 respectively. Lundberg is currently tied for 10th place at 152, one stroke ahead of Kapiioho who is tied for 13th place at 153.
Juniors Ka'ili Britos and
Brigitte Baker also enjoyed afternoon turnarounds. Britos shot a second round 76 following a first round 80 and is tied for 34th place at 156. Baker is tied for 45th place at 158 after rebounding from a first round 83, with a second round 75.
Also competing of UH is senior
Megan Inouye (81-81=162/t60th). Competing as individuals are sophomores
Madeleine Ystrom (78-79=157/t40th),
Liana Otake (82-76=158/t45th), and
Anna DePalma (80-89=169/t75th).
Gonzaga leads the tournament at 602 and holds a one stroke lead over Texas A&M at 603. Coastal Carolina's Brittany Henderson leads all individuals after shooting two rounds of even-par.
Play will conclude tomorrow with the third and final round.
