Women’s Tennis Falls To No. 20 Texas Tech

HONOLULU – The No. 52 University of Hawai`i women's tennis team was overpowered by No. 20 Texas Tech, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. The Red Raiders swept the doubles and won five of the six singles matches.
 
The top duo of No. 47 Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo of Texas Tech defeated the Rainbow Wahine top pair of Barbara Pinterova and Jaime Pawid, 8-6.  TTU's Elizabeth Ullathorne and Rashmi Teltumbde had their hands full with Katarina Poljakova and Xenia Suworowa, which saw the match going to a tiebreaker where the Red Raiders edged UH, 9-8 (4).
 
The 'Bows needed four wins in singles in order to pick up the victory, but could only win at the No. 1 court where Pinterova out-dueled No. 122 Ullathorne, 7-5, 6-4. Poljakova gave all she could in the No. 2 court, but could not make a come-back against Samantha Adams, 6-3, 7-6 (3).
 
The Rainbow Wahine continue their homestand by hosting Montana State Tuesday, March 13 at 1:30 p.m.  This match was originally scheduled on Friday, March 9, but was rescheduled due to inclement whether conditions.
