Men’s Golf Concludes Day 1 Of Wyoming Desert

Round 1 Results

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team completed the first day of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in a tie for 19th place following Round 1, Saturday at the Classic Club. Round 2 was suspended due to darkness and will resume Sunday morning.
 
The Warriors tied with Arizona with a Round 1 team score of 304. Sophomore Tommy Yamashita led the team with a 1-over 73, which was tied for 34th place. Senior T.J. Kua shot 4-over 76 while junior Cory Oride was one stroke back at 77. Sophomores David Saka and Nainoa Calip shot 78 and 80, respectively.
 
UNLV held the Round 1 lead with a 9-under 279, one stroke ahead of Auburn (280). Auburn's Niclas Carlsson shot 6-under 66 for the Round 1 lead while teammate Blayne Barber was one stroke back at 67 along with UNLV's Kevin Penner.

The third and final round will begin immediately following the completion of Round 2 on Sunday.
