SEATTLE. Wash. – After sweeping Santa Clara to open the 2012 NCAA Tournament, the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team now plays Washington for berth in the Omaha Regional and a date with fourth-seeded Nebraska.
The host and 13
th-seeded Huskies were equally as impressive in sweeping first-time tournament participant Central Arkansas. Playing in the second match of Friday's doubleheader at Alaska Airlines Arena, they won 25-13, 25-17, 25-18 as middle blocker Amanda Gil led a 13-block performance by UW with nine of her own.
The match tonight will be a chance at redemption for the 'Bows. Two years ago, they lost to Washington under nearly the exact same circumstances. UH swept Portland State in the opening round, then were shutdown by these very same Huskies in this same arena.
UH and Washington will face off tonight at 7:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. HT).
