Final Results
PRINCEVILLE, Kaua'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished in 13
th place in the inaugural Warrior-Wave Intercollegiate presented by St. Regis Princeville Resort, Wednesday at the Makai Golf Club. The tournament was co-hosted by UH and Pepperdine.
UH's “A” team improved its score each day, including a final round 291 for an 886 total (300-295-291) while the “B” team placed 16
th at 928 (325-305-298).
Baylor captured the team title after shooting a final round 279 for an 18-under 846 total. North Carolina State was runner-up at 853.
Individually, N.C. State's Albin Choi held on to the individual title with a final round 69 for a 10-under 206 total, holding off Baylor's Filippo Zucchetti (207) and Xavier's Korey Ward (208).
Junior
Nainoa Calip shot a bogey-free final round 2-under 70 for a 1-over 217 total and a tie for 18
th place. Senior
Cory Oride got off to a rough start going 5-over through six holes but rallied in a hurry, closing his round with four birdies and no bogeys over his final 10 holes. The Lihu'e, Kaua'i native tied for 45
th at 223 along with sophomore
Ryan Kuroiwa, who shot 73.
Junior
David Saka closed with a 3-over 75 and tied for 58
th at 227 while sophomore
Tommy Yamashita shot 78 for a 231 total and 71
st place.
UH's “B” team improved 27 strokes from its first round behind freshman
Scotty Yamashita, who shot a final round 4-under 68 for a 225 total and sophomore
Brian Lee, who posted a 2-under 70 for a 229 total. Also competing for the “B” squad was sophomore
Reo Saito (81-70-78=229/T65th) and freshman
Justin Chu (84-79-82=245/78th).
The inaugural tournament closed out the fall season for Hawai'i.
