Game Notes
The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team hits the road for the first time this season when it plays at nationally ranked UNLV on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Thomas & Mack Center. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m. PT (2:00 p.m. HT).
The Rainbow Warriors (4-1) will enter the game on a 10-day layoff having last played on Nov. 20, a 71-66 win over North Dakota. That win capped UH's season-opening five-game homestand. The team has opened the season with a 4-1 mark with the team's lone loss a 78-77 overtime decision against Illinois. Senior
Vander Joaquim leads a balanced UH attack at 15.6 ppg, while three other UH starters—
Brandon Spearman (15.2 ppg),
Christian Standhardinger (15.0 ppg) and
Hauns Brereton (13.0 ppg)—are also scoring in double-digits. Senior point guard has orchestrated the team's offense, ranking fifth in the country in assists per game (8.0).
UH faces its first nationally ranked team this season in the Running Rebels (4-1) who are ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 20 in the Coaches Poll. This will be the 32nd all-time meeting between UH and UNLV who were briefly rivals in the Western Athletic Conference.
