HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team continued play on Day Two of their Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Friday at the UH Tennis Complex.
 
The Rainbow Wahine hosted Hawai'i Pacific and UC Irvine with both singles and doubles competition. Seven UH athletes were in action, including  newcomers freshman Daisy Green and senior Kelly Domingo as UH fell in all three of its doubles matches, but went 2-7 in singles play.
 
In doubles action, UH's top duo of Katarina Poljakova and Martina Kostalova were edged out by Marivick Mamiit and Sarah Stadfelt of UC Irvine, 8-6. Green and Kelsey Daguio were defeated by UCI's Nakisa Vahdat and Sarah Gong, 8-1 while Xenia Suworowa and Rebecca Faltusz lost to UCI's Kristina Smith and Franziska Goettsching, 8-2.
 
Moving to singles play, Poljakova defeated UCI's Kristina Smith in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4 for her second win in as many days. With her back against the fence, Xenia Suworowa overcame a 6-0 first set loss to Mamiit and won the next two sets, 6-4, 6-2. On Court 12, Domingo fought hard, but came up short against HPU's Lea Kruse-Utermann, 7-5, 6-3.
 
The three-day tournament ends on Saturday, Nov. 3 with matches beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
