Game Notes
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team is back in action at the Stan Sheriff Center on Friday, Nov. 16 when it takes on Illinois out of the Big Ten. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. with the game following the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic.
The Rainbow Warriors are coming off a strong opening weekend. UH captured the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Rainbow Classic--UH's 13th all-time title--with three straight double-digit wins. The 'Bows capped the weekend with a 73-60 win over Houston Baptist in a nationally televised game on Monday night as part of ESPN's College Hoops Tip-off Marathon.
Senior center
Vander Joaquim was named tournament MVP despite playing limited minutes in his return from a preseason injury. The preseason all-Big West pick tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds while making his first start of the season in the championship game.
This will be the seventh all-time meeting between the squads with Illinois winning the previous six games, including five in Honolulu.
