Hawai'i Opens Homecoming Weekend Hosting Cal State Northridge

Match Notes

HONOLULU – The No. 8 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team returns home to host Cal State Northridge as part of UH's Homecoming weekend. The 'Bows will put their undefeated Big West Conference record on the line when they take on the Matadors on Friday, Oct. 12, 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

UH and CSUN played a five-set thriller last month in Northridge, Calif. to open the Big West season. The 'Bows rallied from one set down and staved off two match points before winning the match. They had four match points of their own, capturing the victory on the fourth try to secure the win.

Emily Hartong led the first-place Rainbow Wahine, who are 7-0 in conference and 14-2 overall, to wins over Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara this past week. The reigning Big West Player of the Week had 36 kills over the weekend, averaging 5.14 kills per set and hitting .281.

Ashley Kastl buried 17 kills over the two matches to go along with 19 digs. Jade Vorster and Kalei Adolpho did the job in the middle, hitting .433 and .400, respectively, and posting 27 kills and 20 blocks between them. Freshman Tai Manu-Olevao saw her first action in a Rainbow Wahine uniform, playing in both matches off the bench and posting three kills.

Hawai'i is a perfect 13-0 all-time against Cal State Northridge.
