UH cruised through the first two sets before the Mustangs returned from the 10-minute intermission to make a match of it. Cal Poly opened up an early 5-1 lead off block assists by Gera and Hardin, but UH responded and grabbed its first lead at 12-11 off blocks by Uiato and
Jade Vorster (11 kills, 4 blocks). Late in the set, Kastl buried a kill to pull the 'Bows within one point at 18-17, but it would be the last point for Hawai'i as Cal Poly ran off seven straight to grab the win.
Hawai'i was dominant in the first two sets. Hartong led the way with five kills in set one with Vorster and Kastl both recording a trio of digs. Set two saw UH pull away midway through to take the two-set lead. A Vorster kill put the 'Bows ahead 17-13 and a pair of late kills but Hartong sealed the win.
