HONOLULU – The No. 9 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team returns home this week to host UC Santa Barbara (Thursday, Nov. 1) and Cal Poly (Saturday, Nov. 3) in pair of Big West Conference matches at the Stan Sheriff Center. First serve for both contests is set for 7:00 p.m.
The 'Bows (19-2, 12-0 BWC) are coming off a pair of thrilling road wins where they topped Long Beach State in four intense sets in a match broadcast on FOX Prime Ticket, and rallied to beat UC Irvine in five sets. Hawai'i remains perfect in the Big West despite trailing in sets in half of its matches.
Outside hitter
Emily Hartong had record-breaking performances over the weekend. Against Long Beach State she buried a personal best 33 kills in just four sets, and versus UC Irvine she recorded a career-high 16 digs. She slammed five kills in the decisive fifth set against the Anteaters and was named Big West Player of the Week for her efforts.
Hawai'i continues to lead the conference in hitting percentage (.268), kills (14.19 kps) and assists (13.06 aps). Hartong is averaging a league-best 4.60 kills per set and
Jade Vorster leads the Big West in hitting percentage at .382.
