No. 8 Rainbow Wahine Hit The Road; Face Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara

HONOLULU – After convincing wins over UC Irvine and Long Beach State, the No. 8 Rainbow Wahine volleyball team travels to California for a pair of Big West Conference matches. Hawai'i, the league's lone unbeaten team will play at Cal Poly on Friday, Oct. 5 and visit UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Oct. 6. Both matches are set for 7:00 p.m. PT (4:00 p.m. HT).

Hawai'i sits atop the Big West at 5-0 with an overall record of 12-2. The 'Bows held UC Irvine and defending Big West champion Long Beach State to under 20 points in every set of their two sweeps, with UCI hitting .090 and Long Beach posting just a .150 attack percentage.

Meanwhile, the 'Bows have been efficient on the offensive end with a conference-best .261 hitting percentage. Emily Hartong leads the Big West with 4.16 kills per set and Jade Vorster is second in hitting percentage (.315).

The 'Bows lead the overall series against Cal Poly 27-4 and have a 29-7 record against UC Santa Barbara. UH has played both teams four times in the postseason with the 'Bows winning every meeting. UH topped Cal Poly in the NCAA Tournament three straight seasons (1987-89), with UH and UCSB's postseason history dating back to the early years of the Rainbow Wahine program. UH beat the Gauchos three times in the AIAW (Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) National Tournament.
