Men’s Golf Opens Alister MacKenzie Invite

Day 1 Results

FAIRFAX, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team opened the Alister MacKenzie Invitational by shooting 17-over 585 Monday at The Meadow Club.
 
The tournament features six nationally ranked teams including top-ranked and host California, who leads the 16-team field at 533. Individually, Cal's Brandon Hagy shot 7-under 64 in the first round and 9-under 62 for a 16-under total. San Francisco's Taylor Travis is five strokes back at 11-under.
 
Sophomore Ryan Kuroiwa is the top UH golfer at even-par 142 after firing a 3-under 68 in the first round and 3-over 74 in Round 2. The 'Aiea, O'ahu native had one eagle and six birdies on the day, including five birdies in the first round.  Kuroiwa, who was tied for ninth after Round 1, is currently tied for 34th.
 
Senior Cory Oride rebounded from a first round 6-over 77 with a 1-under 70 in Round 2 and is tied for 58th at 5-over 147. Junior David Saka is one stroke back at 6-over 148 (75-73) followed by freshman Scotty Yamashita (74-75=149) and junior Tommy Yamashita (78-74=152).
 
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the third and final round.
