Hawai‘i Sweeps Doubles Play at Spring Invitational

Final Results

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team swept its three doubles matches against Kansas and won four-of-six singles official matches vs. Kentucky on the final day of the Rainbow Wahine Spring Invitational at the UH Tennis Complex on Saturday. 

UH finished the invitational winning nine of 10 doubles matches in the three day tourney. Barbara Pinterova and Jamie Pawid combined to defeat preseason pair ranked No. 42 Monica Pezzotti and Paulina Los, 8-4 at the No. 1 slot. The No. 2 match saw Aglae Van den Bergh and Martina Kostalova defeat Dylan Windam and Claire Dreyer, 8-3 while Xenia Suworowa and Rebecca Faltusz took the No. 3 match over Victoria Khanesvskoya and Amy Barnthouse, 8-5.

The tournament closed with singles play between the Rainbow Wahine and Washington State. Hawai'i won five of the eight matches against the Cougars with Poljakova, Pawid, Pinterova, Suworova and Van den Bergh all earning victories.

The 'Bows next play Mississippi on Friday, Jan. 20 with first serve set for 3:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
