Tournament Schedule and Results
HONOLULU – At the Rainbow Wahine Spring Invitational, the University of Hawai'i women's tennis team won three doubles and five singles matches. The three-day tournament involves singles and doubles matches between the host Rainbow Wahine, Kentucky, Kansas, and Washington State.
The 'Bows opened the day with four singles matches against Washington State, winning three of them.
Katarina Poljakova teamed up with
Jamie Pawid in one doubles to defeat Liudmila Vasilieva and Elizaveta Luzina, 8-3. The UH tandems of
Barbara Pinterova and
Xenia Suworowa, and
Rebecca Faltusz and
Martina Kostalova, won their matches at two and four, respectively.
The afternoon saw Hawai'i win five of eight singles matches against Kentucky, all in straight sets. Poljakova topped Jessica Stiles in one singles, 6-3, 6-4, and Suworowa rallied in each set to defeat Stephanie Fox 6-4, 7-5, at the four.
In earlier action, Washington State won four of six doubles matches against Kansas, and Kentucky topped the Jayhawks in their three doubles matches.
The Rainbow Wahine Spring Invitational continues Friday at 9:00 a.m.
