Game Notes
The University of Hawai'i Warrior football team will face its second Pac-12 opponent in as many weeks as it travels to Washington for a non-conference game, Saturday, Sept. 10. Kick-off is 12:30 p.m. PT (9:30 a.m. HT) at Husky Stadium.
The game is the first of two straight non-conference road games for UH during its 11-day road trip, which ends in Las Vegas, Nev., for a match-up with UNLV.
The Warriors (1-0) defeated one of the Pac-12's newest members, Colorado, 34-17 last week in Honolulu. UH led 17-0 at the half and withstood a Buffalo comeback by scoring the game's final 10 points for its first season-opening victory over a BCS conference opponent since 1997 and ninth win over a BCS team since 2003.
Quarterback
Bryant Moniz led Hawai'i with 299 yards of total offense and four touchdowns, including a career-best 121 yards on the ground and three scores, in earning Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors. With CU pulling to within 24-17 late in the fourth quarter, Moniz found running back
Joey Iosefa on a shovel pass for a 22-yard score and ultimately sealing the victory. Moniz also scampered 57 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter which gave the Warriors a 10-0 lead.
The Huskies (1-0) opened the 2011 season by defeating Eastern Washington, 30-27 last week at Husky Stadium. UW needed a late interception in its own end zone to clinch the victory over the defending FCS champion Eagles, who out-gained the Huskies, 504-to-250 in total offense, including 473-to-102 through the air.
