HONOLULU – The No.11 University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team swept Nevada on Thursday, 25-15, 25-15, 25-14. The Rainbow Wahine improve to 13-1 overall and 3-0 in the WAC, while the Wolf Pack drop to 2-11 overall and 0-2 in conference.
Kanani Danielson posted a match-high 13 kills along with six digs.
Emily Hartong recorded nine kills and
Brittany Hewitt added seven kills and four blocks.
Tessa Lea'ea led Nevada with seven kills and two blocks.
Hawai'i set the tone for the match with a convincing set one win. An early five-point lead by the 'Bows swelled to 18-6 capped by a
Jane Croson kill. After a string of points by Nevada, UH sealed the win on an
Emily Hartong kill.
Set two was more of the same. Danielson recorded three straight kills to give UH an early lead. Janelle Batista (6 K) posted a pair of kills to bring the Wolf Pack to 12-8, but kills by Danielson, Hartong, and
Jane Croson (8 K) extended the lead and all but put the match away for Hawai'i.
There were 5,546 tickets issued for the match, and a turnstile count of 3,820.
UH next hosts Fresno State on Saturday, Oct 1. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
