SEASIDE, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i Warrior golf team finished day one of the St. Mary's Invitational in 10th place. After round one of competition Hawai'i was in 12th place shooting 25-over par for a total of 313 total strokes. The Warriors improved in the afternoon with a 5-over par, 293 stroke second round.
Leading Hawai'i is
Ryan Kuroiwa, who finished the day tied for 30th with 150 total strokes (+6), including a one-under, 71, in the second round.
T.J. Kua, and
Nainoa Calip each shot a total of 152 strokes and are tied for 39th place. Kua struggled early with an 82 stroke first round, but finished strong with a two-under, 70 in round two. Also competing for UH are
Tommy Yamashita (78-78=156/t54) and
Brian Lee (78-78=156/t54).
Oregon holds a nine shot lead over Alabama-Birmingham, shooting 567 (-9) through the first two rounds of competition. Leading the individual battle is Chris Russo of CS-Northridge, shooting 137 (-7) for the day.
The tournament will conclude Tuesday with the third and final round.
