Rainbows Open WAC Play Hosting Sacramento State

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i baseball team (14-14, 0-0) opens Western Athletic Conference play hosting a four-game series against Sacramento State (9-20, 0-0). The teams will play Friday at 6:35 p.m., a doubleheader on Saturday at 3:05 p.m., and conclude the series Sunday at 1:05 p.m.

The Rainbows are coming off arguably their most impressive series of the season. They won three of four games against No. 28 Wichita State where they twice posted a season-high 12 runs. Hawai'i scored 24 runs combined in the final two games of the series, the most of any two-game stretch since the 2010 Tempe Regional. In the series finale win, they recorded 15 base hits, also a season-high.

Kolten Wong had a monster series for the 'Bows. In four games, he batted .500 (8-16), with seven runs, nine RBI, a triple, a homerun, and two stolen bases. Wong continues to lead Hawai'i in several statistical categories including batting average (.393), slugging percentage (.561), and on-base percentage(.459). He also leads UH in homeruns (4) and RBI (24).

Ticket Information: Individual game tickets are $8 in the lower and mid levels. Adult tickets in the upper level are $6, with senior citizens for $5 and student tickets in the upper level for $3. In addition to purchasing tickets online at HawaiiAthletics.com, fans can visit the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., or call 944-2697 during the same hours. In order to ease game-day ticket lines at baseball and make online ticket purchases more affordable, UH has reduced the fee for individual-game, online ticket purchases to $1 per ticket through 
HawaiiAthletics.com. Previously, the per-ticket charge was $2. The fee for "Print at Home" tickets is $1 per order and the "Will Call" charge is $2 per order. Large crowds are expected, so fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance.
Promotions:  The team will be available for photos and autographs after Friday's game, as they will for all Friday home games. Fans can proceed to the field via the stairs located at the lower level of Section JJ on the first-base side of the field. The players will be available on the field for 30 minutes for “Autograph Friday”. Fans are encouraged to bring items for the players to sign. 
Coaches: Mike Trapasso (294-258) is in his 10th year at UH. Reggie Christiansen (9-20) is in his first year at Sacramento State.
Series Information: Hawai'i leads Sacramento State 56-20. Their last meeting was in 2010.
