Men's Golf Wraps Up Play At Western Intercollegiate

Final Results

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded the 65th Western Intercollegiate in 15th place Sunday at the Pasatiempo Golf Club.

The Warriors finished the two-day event with a score of 1,163 (393-387-383). Third-ranked UCLA captured the team title with a total of 1,066 while New Mexico State's Timothy Madigan took medalist honors after a final round 70 for a 3-under 207 total. 

Junior T.J. Kua was UH's top finisher after firing his second straight 3-over 73 to close out the tournament at 12-over 222 (76-73-73) and a tie for 47th place. Behind Kua was freshman David Saka, who battled back from an opening round 85 with rounds of 75 and 72 for a 232 total and tie for 76th place.

Also competing for the Warriors were Henry Park (78-79-77=234/T82nd), Cory Oride (79-81-80=240/89th), Kamden Brakel (80-79-86=245/91st), and Nainoa Calip (80-89-81=250/92nd).

The day began with several Warriors wrapping up their second round before beginning their third and final round.

UH will next host the Western Athletic Conference Championships, May 2-4, at the Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.
