HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team will be in action at home this week as it takes on a pair of Western Athletic Conference foes. The Rainbow Wahine will face Idaho on Friday, April 1 and Louisiana Tech on Sunday, April 3. Both matches begin at 2:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
The Rainbow Wahine (5-10, 0-1 WAC) already have one league match under its belt, falling in a tight, 4-3 decision to Nevada on March 19 in Sacramento, Calif. The Vandals are 8-3 overall so far this year and have split its first two WAC matches, falling to in-state rival Boise State, while defeating New Mexico State on the road. The Lady Techsters (5-2) will play its first two WAC matches in Honolulu, taking on Idaho on Saturday before facing UH on Sunday. La Tech has played five of its first seven matches at home
UH was last in action March 21-22, hosting the first-ever Mauna Lani Bay Tennis Classic on the Big Island against national powerhouse UCLA. UH scored impressive wins by junior

UCLA sported five nationally ranked singles players and two nationally ranked doubles teams, but UH got the best of the Bruins in two match-ups. Ploch upset No. 53 McCall Jones at the top of the lineup with a thrilling 6-4, 2-6, 7-5, victory. Meanwhile, Suworowa also scored an upset win for the 'Bows. In just her third collegiate match, the native of Germany took down No. 102 Courtney Dolehid 6-4, 6-0 on the No. 5 court. The freshman is 2-1 so far this year, including a win in her debut versus Nevada on March 19.
Following this weekend's action, the Rainbow Wahine will be idle for more than two weeks before playing its final home match of the season against Albany on Tuesday, April 19 in a non-conference meeting.
