Women’s Golf Ties For Third At Paradise Desert Classic

Final Results

KAILUA, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team tied for third place in the one-day, single-round Paradise Desert Classic, which it hosted Wednesday at Luana Hills Country Club. In addition to UH, other schools competing were Arizona State, Columbia, UH-Hilo, and Osaka Gakuin University from Japan.
 
Arizona State won the team title with a score of 311 while ASU's Giulia Molinaro and Columbia's Michelle Piyapattra shared titlist honors with a 3-over 75.
 
Sophomore Ka'ili Britos was the team's top finisher with a 9-over 81 for sixth place. Five strokes back were Madeleine Ystrom (86, 12th) followed by Erika Lundberg (87, T-13th) and Brittany Bomar (87, T-13th) and Liana Otake (90, T-20th).
 
Competing as individuals were UH's Anna DePalma (83, T-7th), Megan Inouye (88, 18th), and Charlee Kapiioho (91, 22nd).
 
ASU dominated the field with Carlota Ciganda (76) finishing third and Daniela Ordonez (77) in fourth place. Just one day earlier at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, Ciganda captured the individual title while ASU took the team title.
 
Japan's Osaka Gakuin finished behind the Sun Devils with a score of 332 followed by UH and Columbia (341) and UH-Hilo (371).
 
Next up for the Rainbow Wahine is the Anteater Invitational, March 28-29, in Dove Canyon, Calif.
