Day 1 Results
CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team completed the first day of the San Diego Intercollegiate, Monday, at the San Diego Country Club and is currently in 12
th place. The Warriors shot rounds of 393 and 404 for a 797 total.
Freshman
Nainoa Calip continues his impressive spring season firing back-to-back rounds of 4-over 76 for an 8-over 152 which is tied for 35
th place. Calip has been the team's top finisher in each of the past two tournaments.
Junior
Jared Sawada shot on opening round 2-over 74 but followed that with an 81 for an 11-over 155 total. Four strokes back is freshman
David Saka who fired 77-82 for a 159 total. Junior
T.J. Kua struggled for much of the day en route to 81-82 for a 163 total.
SMU leads the field with a 724 total (360-364) while SMU's Kelly Kraft and San Diego's Alex Ching lead the individual standings at 5-under 139.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with third and final round.
