Women’s Tennis Begins Three-Match Road Trip

SAN DEIGO, Calif.  – The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team (5-7) heads to California for the second time in a month to compete in a trio of road matches against No. 50 Princeton, No. 7 California and Western Athletic Conference rival Nevada.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will begin their road swing at San Diego's Hogan Tennis Center, a neutral site, against No. 50 Princeton. The Tigers (6-6) lost their last match against then No. 43 Maryland, 5-2, who is the seventh nationally ranked team they have faced this season in their 12 matches.
 
Following the match against Princeton, UH will head up to Berkeley to face No. 7 California. The Golden Bears (10-2) had its five-match winning streak snapped by then No. 2 Stanford. Despite the loss, Cal's nationally ranked doubles team, No. 4 Mari Andersson and Jana Juricova, are on a 15 match win streak with a 28-2 record this season. The Golden Bears have four nationally ranked singles players as well, No. 4 Jana Juricova, No. 38 Tayler Davis, No. 62 Annie Goransson and No. 41 Mari Andersson. Andersson won her 20th singles match of the season defeating No. 24 Mallory Burdette of Stanford and remains undefeated in duals at 12-0.
 
UH will then conclude the road trip with its first conference match of the season versus Nevada (2-7) on Saturday, Martch 19. That match will be played in San Jose, Calif., at the Spartan Tennis Complex
