Warrior Golf Concludes Play In Waikoloa

WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded play at the Ameri Ari Invitational, Friday, at the Waikoloa Kings' Course. The Warriors, co-hosting the spring tournament ranked second toughest in 2011 by Golf World, finished in 18th place with an 888 total (292-295-301).
 
For the third time this season, junior #T.J. Kua# led UH, tying for 14th at six-under par (69-71-70). Kua fired a season-low 69 in the first round and sunk 15 birdies on the tournament.
 
Also competing for the Warriors were freshman Nainoa Calip (70-72-75=217/T51st), senior Kamden Brakel (84-71-78=233/T107th), freshman David Saka (75-86-78=239/T110th), and sophomore Cory Oride (78-81-82=241/113th).
 
Capturing the team title was no. 4 Oklahoma State carding a 34-under, 830 (278-273-279). Individually, leader through all three rounds Daniel Miernicki of Oregon took first at 13-under par (62-69-72=203).
 
The men hit the course in two weeks, hosting the 35th annual John A. Burns Intercollegiate at the Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku, O'ahu.
