Game Notes
MOSCOW, Idaho – Fresh off an emphatic win at Boise State on Thursday night, the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (13-9, 4-6 WAC) invades Moscow for a Western Athletic Conference contest against Idaho (12-10, 5-5 WAC) on Saturday, Feb. 5. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. PT (5:05 p.m. HT) at the Cowan Spectrum.
UH's 73-66 win over Boise State put the Rainbow Warriors just one game out of fourth place in the WAC, behind the Broncos and Saturday's opponent, Idaho. The 'Bows avenged a 24-point loss to the Broncos suffered in Honolulu last month. UH now looks to do the same against a Vandal squad that held UH to a season-low 44 points in a 15-point loss on Jan. 6.
After starting league play 0-5, UH has now won four of its last five games with its sole loss a double-overtime heartbreaker to conference leader and nationally ranked Utah State. The 'Bows have won two straight WAC road contests and look to make it three straight for the first time since 2004. Meanwhile, the Vandals are heading in the opposite direction after suffering its fourth straight loss, a 92-89 double-overtime setback at home to San Jose State on Thursday night.
UH has benefited from the strong play of senior
Bill Amis who has averaged 18.0 ppg and 10.0 rpg in the last five-game stretch. Amis came up big against the Broncos in UH's last win, scoring 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while also adding seven rebounds and four blocks.
Following its game against Idaho, the 'Bows will have a nine-day layoff before taking on Nevada at home on Monday, Feb. 14.
