Men’s Basketball Closes Home Schedule With Senior Night

Game Notes

HONOLULU – The red-hot University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (16-10, 6-7 WAC) plays its final regular season home game of the year when it hosts New Mexico State on Saturday, Feb. 26. Seniors Bill Amis, Douglas Kurtz and Hiram Thompson will be honored at the conclusion of the game as part Senior Night festivities. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The 'Bows, who have won seven of its last nine games, locked up a spot in next month's WAC Tournament with a convincing 71-58 win over the Louisiana Tech on Thursday. Amis (18 points) led four players in double-digit scoring as the 'Bows led by 19 at the break and by as many as 25 points in the second half. With the win UH also moved within one game of fifth place in the WAC standings and assured itself of finishing the year with a winning record—a first since the 2006-07 season.

UH will take on a New Mexico State squad (14-14, 8-5 WAC) that remains in second in the WAC standings after a 72-70 overtime loss at San Jose State on Wednesday night. The Aggies defeated the 'Bows 82-64 earlier this year in Las Cruces.

Following its game against New Mexico State, the Rainbow Warriors will conclude its WAC regular season schedule on the road with games at San Jose State (March 3) and Fresno State (March 5).
