Game Notes

The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (14-10, 5-7 WAC) steps out league play for a non-conference road game at UC Davis (9-16, 3-9 Big West) as part of the ESPN BracketBusters event. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. PT (12:00 p.m. HT) on Saturday, Feb. 19.

 

UH has participated all nine years in the ESPN BracketBusters and this is the fifth straight year that the 'Bows have been matched against a team from the Big West Conference as part of the BracketBusters pool. UH is 3-5 all-time in the event and 2-2 on the road. This will be the first all-time meeting between the teams who will become conference rivals when Hawai'i joins the Big West Conference in 2012.

 

UH is coming off a thrilling 69-67 overtime win on Monday night over Nevada, powered by a combined 39 points, 22 rebounds and seven blocks from the frontcourt of Vander Joaquim and Bill Amis. Meanwhile, junior point guard Jeremiah Ostrowski continued to elevate his game with two clutch buckets in overtime, including the eventual game-winner with 21 seconds left in overtime. UC Davis also enters the match-up coming off a win after the Aggies ended a four-game skid with an 88-78 road win at Seattle.

 

Following their game at UC Davis, the 'Bows will return to Honolulu for their final two home games of the year against Louisiana Tech (Feb. 24) and New Mexico State (Feb. 26).
