Game Notes
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team heads to the neighbor islands for a pair of games this week. The Rainbow Warriors will play UH Hilo at Kealakehe Gym in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i on Friday, Dec. 16 then head to Wailuku, Maui for a meeting with North Carolina A&T at War Memorial Gym on Sunday, Dec. 18.
UH (3-4) and UH Hilo (4-2) have met numerous times over the years in preseason exhibition action, however this will be the first regular-season meeting between the programs in 21 years. It will also be UH's first appearance on the island of Hawai'i since the 2001 Big Island Invitational. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. and there will be an autograph session with both teams following the game.
Meanwhile, UH will play a regular-season Division I game on Maui for the second straight year when the Rainbow Warriors face North Carolina A&T (4-5) on the second leg of the trip on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 5:00 p.m. The Rainbow Warriors defeated Chicago State in front on an energetic, near-sellout crowd at the Lahaina Civic Center last December.
Ticket prices for the Dec. 18 game are $12 (adults) and $8 (senior citizens) and $6 (students ages 4-high school; college students with ID) and available at the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office, 944-2697 and HawaiiAthletics.com. All seats are general admission.
Tickets are also available for sale on Maui at the Pacific Radio Group; 311 Ano Street; Kahului, HI 96732; Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Call (808) 877-5566 for more information. All unsold tickets will be available at the door on game day one hour prior to tip-off.
This will be the second appearance by a UH squad in Wailuku this year. The men's volleyball squad defeated Cal Baptist in a regular-season match in War Memorial Gym in February.
