Game Notes
The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team heads to the road for the second time this season when it travels to California for a pair of non-conference match-ups. First up for the Rainbow Warriors (2-2) is a meeting with Pepperdine (3-3) on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. HT).
Hawai'i lost in it first game away from home this year, when it fell to No. 22 Gonzaga, 73-54, in the B.C. Basketball Classic in Vancouver on Nov. 19. UH now looks to win back-to-back games for the first time this young season when it faces the Waves on Saturday.
After losing a two straight games by double-digits, UH earned a 75-70 home win over Pacific in its last outing on Friday, Nov. 25. The 'Bows led for the majority of the contest but needed a
Garrett Jefferson put-back with 3.1 seconds left to secure the win.
Senior guard
Zane Johnson led UH with 21 points against Pacific and is averaging a team-high 17.8 ppg. Freshman
Shaquille Stokes recorded 10 assists in the win and is leading the team at 4.3 apg. Meanwhile, sophomore
Trevor Wiseman recorded his second double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) in four games this year.
The trip to Pepperdine will be UH's first visit to Malibu in 40 years and a homecoming of sorts for head coach
Gib Arnold, who served as an assistant for the Waves for four seasons (1999-2003).
Following its game versus Pepperdine, UH will travel to Stockton, Calif., for its second meeting with Pacific in an 11-day span. The teams will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7:00 p.m. PT.
