No. 6 Hawai‘i Takes Top Seed To WAC Tournament

Match Notes

HONOLULU – The No. 6 University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team travels to Las Vegas, Nev. for the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Tournament. As the top seed, the Rainbow Wahine (26-1) received a first round bye and will play their opening match on Tuesday, Nov 22, at 7:30 p.m. PT.
 
UH won the WAC regular season for the 16th time and went undefeated for the third consecutive season. The 'Bows come in with a 34-3 overall tournament record and will look to reclaim their title. Last season, the team lost in the championship match to Utah State, snapping a streak of 10 consecutive tournament titles.
 
Hawai'i will face the winner of No. 4 Utah State and No. 5 Fresno State in one semifinal match, and Idaho, the tournament's No. 2 seed, will face the winner of No. 3 New Mexico State and No. 6 San Jose State.
 
The championship match will be played on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 6:00 p.m. PT, and broadcast live on ESPNU.
 
Following the tournament, UH travels to California for its regular season finale, a non-conference road match versus Cal State Fullerton. The 'Bows and Titans play Saturday, Nov. 25, at 7:00 p.m. PT.

Where: Las Vegas, NV (Orleans Arena, 8,000) and Fullerton, CA (Titan Gym, 4,000)
Television: OCSports – Channels 12 (SD) and 1012 (HD) will be broadcasting both WAC Tournament semifinal matches. Jim Leahey will be calling the play-byplay with Chris McLachlin doing color commentary. ESPNU will be carrying the WAC Tournament championship match. 
Streaming Video: First round WAC Tournament action will be streamed live at www.wacsports.com. Semifinal matches are available at www.OCSports.tv for a fee. The championship match will be available at www.espn.go.com/watchespn. The match vs. CSUF can be accessed on ESPN3 (www.espn.go.com/watchespn)
Radio: ESPN AM 1500 radio will broadcast the UH semifinal match, and ESPN 1420 AM will broadcast the championship match provided UH is playing.
