HONOLULU – The No. 6 University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team swept Louisiana Tech on Thursday, 25-11, 25-7, 25-15. The Rainbow Wahine improve to 25-1 overall and a perfect 13-0 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Lady Techsters drop to 9-21 overall and 0-13 in conference.
Hawai'i, who has already wrapped up the WAC regular season title, took just 1:23 to sweep the Lady Techsters.
Kaela Goodman and
Kristiana Tuaniga both had a career-high seven kills, and
Kanani Danielson and
Jane Croson shared match-high honors with eight kills.
Marcella Braz was the focal point of LaTech's attack leading the team with seven kills on 39 attacks.
UH won five of the first six points en route to a 25-11 set one victory. After the early lead was cut to two points, the 'Bows answered with a 10-1 run to take a 17-6 lead. A pair of Croson kills and an
Emily Hartong (3 kills, 3 digs) solo block fueled the run.
The 'Bows allowed a season-low seven points in their dominating set two win. Hawai'i led 9-5 before taking off on a 16-2 run to close the set. Reserves Goodman, Tuaniga,
Monica Stauber, and
Alex Griffiths started set three and overcame an early deficit to win handily and complete the sweep.
There were 6,196 tickets issued for the match, and a turnstile count of 4,364.
The 'Bows conclude the WAC regular season with their annual Senior Night match against New Mexico State, Saturday, Nov. 12. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
