HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team continued action in the second day of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational Friday at the UH Tennis Complex.
 
The Rainbow Wahine hosted local schools BYU-Hawai'i, Chaminade and Hawai'i Pacific with singles competition in both winner's and consolation brackets. All eight Rainbow Wahine players were in action on the day. In the winner's bracket, UH went 3-1 in the quarterfinals and 1-2 in the semifinals. The day was highlighted by Martina Kostolova's semifinal straight set win over Carrie Shuler (HPU) in the Green Flight. Kostolova captured the first set 7-6 with a 7-4 tie-break win, then outlasted Shuler 6-3 in the final game of the night. In the Black Flight, UH's Barbara Pinterova's semifinal match was suspended due to darkness. Pinterova won the first set 7-5, but was trailing in the second, 1-3 when the game was called. The match will be continued on Saturday morning.
 
In the consolation brackets, the 'Bows went 2-1 in the quarterfinals and 0-2 in the semifinals.
 
The three-day tournament concludes Saturday with first serve at 10:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
