SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team completed competition on the final day of the USTA/ITA Southwest Regional hosted by San Diego and San Diego State at the Barnes Tennis Center.
 
Nearly 100 players from a dozen West Coast schools competed in the five-day tournament. Jamie Pawid and Katarina Poljakova were the only Rainbow Wahine left today in the championship bracket in doubles competition. However, the pair were eliminated in the semifinals by the 10th-seeded team of Robin Anderson and Skylar Morton (UCLA) on Sunday with an 8-2 loss.
 
Meanwhile, in the singles consolation bracket, Martina Kostalova advanced to the semifinal round with a straight set, 6-4, 6-4 win over Jordan Dockendorf (UCSB). But Kostalova was knocked out by Anna Depenau (USD), 6-1, 6-0. Depenau moved into the semifinal game with Kostalova after UH's Kelsey Daguio withdrew in the quarterfinal round with an injury.
 
The tourney put together a “Lucky Loser” bracket as well today. In singles, UH's Xenia Suworowa was the team's lone winner, as she defeated Maria Raygada (USD) with a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win. In doubles, Barbara Pinterova and Suworowa combined for an 8-6 win over UC Santa Barbara's Jordan Dockendorf and Natalia Lozana, and Hawai'i's Rebecca Faltusz and Aglae Van den Bergh held off LMU's Jin Miya and Tory Parravi, 8-6.
 
The Rainbow Wahine return home and will host the Rainbow Wahine Fall Classic on the island of Hawai'i from Nov. 10-12.
