No. 8 Rainbow Wahine Cruise Past Notre Dame

HONOLULU – The No. 8 University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team swept the University of Notre Dame on Monday, 25-18, 25-23, 25-17. The Rainbow Wahine improve to 18-1 overall while the Irish drop to 11-7.
 
Kanani Danielson posted a match-high 13 kills with Emily Hartong adding eight kills for a .467 attack percentage. Jane Croson made her mark on the defensive end with 15 digs.
 
Andrea McHugh posted nine kills and Kristen Dealy and Frenchy Silva each had 12 digs.
 
UH set the tone with a 25-18 set one win. Hartong and Danielson each recorded a kill to help Hawai'i to an early 6-2 lead, but kills by Dealy and McHugh brought the Irish back into the set. The 'Bows regained the momentum and, after five straight points, led 21-13.
 
Set two saw Notre Dame rally from a 15-8 deficit to take a late two-point lead. But the 'Bows had a rally of their own, as Croson caught fire and recorded three kills down the stretch to give her team the win and a commanding 2-0 lead. UH was dominant in the final set as they coasted to a 25-17 win and the sweep.
 
There were 5,782 tickets issued for the match, and a turnstile count of 4,260.
 
Hawai'i and Notre Dame play their second of back-to-back matches Tuesday, Oct 18. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
