RUSTON, La. – The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team swept Louisiana Tech on Friday, 25-9, 25-9, 25-14. The Rainbow Wahine improve to 17-1 overall and 7-0 in the WAC, and LaTech drops to 9-14 overall and 0-7 in conference.
Jane Croson did the damage for Hawai'i with a match-high 11 kills to go along with seven digs.
Kanani Danielson added seven kills and a match-high nine digs, and Kalei Adolpho posted three blocks, also a match-high.
Marcella Braz led LaTech with three kills and five digs.
UH was impressive from the first serve, as the Rainbow Wahine opened the match with a 25-9 first set win. The 'Bows held an early lead but broke the set wide open with a 7-0 run. A Danielson kill coupled with a series of LaTech errors helped UH to a 20-7 lead.
Set two saw much of the same as Hawai'i rolled to another 25-9 win. UH went on a 14-1 run to take a 14-4 lead, and Adolpho closed the set with a pair of kills.
In the final set, the 'Bows went to their bench as
Kaela Goodman and
Monica Stauber started the set with
Kristiana Tuaniga seeing significant time. LaTech was competitive early but UH eventually pulled away for a 25-14 win to complete the sweep.
UH now returns home and will have a short turnaround before playing a pair of matches against Notre Dame. The 'Bows and Fighting Irish will play Monday, Oct. 17, and Tuesday, Oct. 18. with both matches beginning at 7:00 p.m.
