HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (11-8, 2-5 WAC) hosts the second of three straight home games when it takes on San Jose State (9-8, 2-5 WAC) in a Western Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, Jan. 22. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Hawai`i is coming off a 62-52 win over Fresno State on Thursday for its second straight league victory. The 'Bows led by 20 points at halftime, then held off a furious Fresno State rally in the second to earn its first WAC home victory of the year. Sophomore center
Vander Joaquim led the way with 13 points and 10 rebounds and scored 10 of his points down the stretch to secure the UH win. With the win the Rainbow Warriors moved into seventh place in the WAC standings, one game behind the Bulldogs and a half game ahead of the visiting Spartans.
UH own a 13-3 all-time record against San Jose State in Honolulu, but now must face a Spartan squad that boasts the nation's third-leading scorer in Adrian Oliver (24.2 ppg). The 'Bows will conclude its three-game WAC homestand on Saturday, Jan. 29 when it hosts league-leading Utah State.
