Men’s Basketball Begins Three-Game Homestand Against Fresno State

Game Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (10-8, 1-5 WAC) hosts the first of three straight home games when it faces Fresno State (7-9, 3-3 WAC) in a Western Athletic Conference contest on Thursday, Jan. 20. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Hawai`i aims to move up the WAC ladder after picking up its first league win of the year at Lousiana Tech on Saturday. The 56-48 win over the Bulldogs snapped a five-game losing streak for the Rainbow Warriors and put UH in a tie for seventh place in the WAC standings. In the process the 'Bows snapped a 15-game road losing skid dating back nearly two years. In his fourth game back from injury, Bill Amis helped carry UH to victory with a 22-point, 12-rebound performance, while the UH defense held La Tech scoreless in the final 2:31.

UH now returns home to face one of its most storied rivals in Fresno State. The Bulldogs currently sit in fifth place in the WAC—two games ahead of UH—and are coming off a their third straight league setback, a 67-57 home loss to Idaho on Monday.

Following its game against the Bulldogs, the 'Bows will host San Jose State on Saturday, Jan. 22 and league-leading Utah State on Jan. 29.
