Men's Basketball Opens WAC Play At Utah State

Game Notes

LOGAN, Utah – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (9-3) begins its Western Athletic Conference schedule this week with a pair of road games, starting with a meeting against defending league champion Utah State (11-2) on Wednesday, Dec. 29. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. MT (4:00 p.m. HT) at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

UH has enjoyed a successful preseason under first-year head coach Gib Arnold, logging a 9-3 non-conference record, second-best in the WAC. The 'Bows are coming off a strong showing in the second annual Diamond Head Classic, going 2-1 with wins over Utah and Mississippi State. Zane Johnson has led the UH charge averaging nearly 20 point per game in the last five contests, including a career-high 24 against Florida State.

The 'Bows now face a stiff test in Logan, Utah, where the Aggies enjoy one of the best homecourt advantages in all of college basketball. Utah State is a perfect 8-0 at home so far this year. UH, meanwhile, will be playing its third game on the mainland this year after a pair of games earlier this month at Cal Poly (L, 54-53) and vs. Brigham Young (L, 78-57).
