No. 7 Hawai‘i Opens Season With Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team opens the season with the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational, a tough three-day invitational at the Stan Sheriff Center. The Rainbow Wahine begin the season ranked No. 7 and face Western Michigan Friday night, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
 
The invitational officially kicks off with No. 9 UCLA facing No. 25 Santa Clara Friday night at 5 p.m. Saturday night, Aug. 29, features Western Michigan and UCLA at 5 p.m. and UH and Santa Clara at 7 p.m. The three-day event ends Sunday, Aug. 30 with Western Michigan and Santa Clara playing at 11 a.m. and UH and UCLA playing at 5 p.m.

Radio Coverage
ESPN 1420 (1420 AM) will broadcast the UH matches this week, live with Scott Robbs handling the play-by-play. The matches can also be heard over the Internet on espn1420am.com.

Livestats for all six matches will be available through UH's website at hawaiiathletics.com, through the schedule link.
 
Television Coverage
KFVE – The Home Team (Channel 5), will broadcast all six matches live, with Jim Leahey handling the play-by-play duties and Chris McLachlin providing color commentary.
 
Ticket Information
Tickets for the tournament are $17 in the lower level, $12 for adults (upper), $10 for senior citizens (upper), $5 for students ages 4-18 (upper). Tickets can be purchased at Stan Sheriff Center Box Office, the UH Campus Center, Rainbowtique Ward Center, the Aloha Stadium Box Office or OCET at Windward Community College, online at hawaiiathletics.com or by phone at (808) 944-2697.
 
Giveaways & Prizes
Chevron, the tournament title sponsor, will give away 2,500 pompoms on Friday, 500 car flags on Saturday, and 300 “Victory Vans” on Sunday. Each night, Chevron will also be giving out prizes worth $700 during promotional activities between sets 2 and 3. Fans can register to participate at the sports marketing table inside Gate A.
 
Ticket Promotion
Purchase eight gallons or more of Chevron gasoline at a participating Chevron stations through August 29. Present receipt of purchase to redeem one free adult ticket to the UH match against Santa Clara on Saturday when you buy one adult ticket at regular price at the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office. Limited to two tickets per person, per eight gallons of gas, while supplies last. Seats are in special sections and additional restrictions may apply.
