Catricala Hits Two Homers As 'Bows Beat Wolverines 4-1

Box Score

HONOLULU – Behind a two-homer game by Vinnie Catricala, the University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (31-22) defeated the Utah Valley Wolverines (16-35) 4-1 in front of a crowd of 3,179 at Les Murakami Stadium Friday. Matt Sisto (5-4) got the win, pitching 7.0 scoreless innings while Brock Sargent (2-9) got the loss for UVU.

Catricala went 2-for-4 while hitting his 11th and 12th homers of the season to lead the Rainbows while Kevin Macdonald went 2-for-4 with a run. Both Christian Johnson and Matt Roquemore had one RBI while going 2-for-3, with Johnson adding a double.

Catricala got UH on the board in the bottom of the first, blasting a solo homer to left field.

The junior again left the yard to lead off the fifth, giving UH a 2-0 edge. Johnson and Roquemore had back-to-back RBI-singles later in the inning, getting it to 4-0.

That was more than enough for Sisto, who allowed just three runners to get into scoring position, finishing the game with four strikeouts and no walks.

Wolverine Cole Anderson hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth after Sisto left the game, but that was all Utah Valley could come up with, falling by the final of 4-1.

The series continues tomorrow at 7:35 p.m. before the 1:05 p.m. finale on Sunday.
