BOISE, Idaho - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team bounced back to defeat Louisiana Tech in its second match of the day, earning a 7-0 sweep, Friday afternoon, at the Appleton Tennis Complex. UH improved to 9-10 on the season and is 1-1 in Western Athletic Conference play.

 

In doubles play, UH quickly jumped on the Bulldogs, winning all three matches with relative ease. The teams of junior Sophie Kobuch and freshman Anja-Vanessa Peter, freshman Alyssa Nafarrete and senior Melinda Wong, and freshmen Ellen Linsenbolz and Aglae Van den Bergh earned victories at the No. 1-3 positions respectively.

 

In singles play, the Rainbow Wahine crushed the Bulldogs in all six matches in straight sets. Kobuch blanked Ada Makowska, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 court. Nafarrete nearly blanked Mallory Smith at No. 5, 6-1, 6-0. Altogether, the Rainbow Wahine allowed  Louisiana Tech to win 14 total games in six matches.  

 

UH will continue WAC play, against Utah State on Saturday, April 4. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. at the Appleton Tennis Complex in Boise, Idaho.
