Rainbow Wahine Golf Concludes WAC Championship; Hou Named Second Team All-WAC

Final Results

RENO, Nevada – The University of Hawai´i women's golf team finished the WAC Championship in seventh place, Wednesday, at the Wolf Run Golf Club. The Rainbow Wahine carded rounds of 319, 308, and 313 for a 940 total.
 
Tying for 21st and earning Second Team All-WAC honors was junior Corie Hou (83-73-74=230). Hou has earned top-team finishes in six of the eight tournaments in which the Rainbow Wahine have competed this season, and holds the lowest team average at 75.9 strokes per round. In this three-day tournament, Hou sunk eight birdies to finish at 14-over par.
 
Also tying for 21st place was senior Carolina Perez (79-73-78=230). Perez led the team in par 4 scoring and pars, with 36, and was one of only two players in the entire field to eagle a hole.
 
Senior Phyllis Lai (77-81-78=236/T29th) and junior Erin Matsuoka (80-81-83=244/32nd) were the other two golfers contributing to the Rainbow Wahine's score.
 
San Jose State (285-289-296=870) took the team title finishing at 6-over par, 19 strokes ahead of the second place team Idaho. SJSU's Erica Moston (71-73-70=214) took the individual title and was the only golfer to finish the tournament under par.
