Women's Golf in Seventh After First Round of WAC Championship

Round 1 Results

RENO, Nevada – The University of Hawai´i women's golf team shot a 319 in the first round of the WAC Championship, Monday, at the Wolf Run Golf Club. The Rainbow Wahine are currently in seventh place at 31-over par.
 
Leading UH is senior Phyllis Lai who carded a five-over par, 77. Lai sunk two birdies and 11 pars, and is currently tied for 15th place. Also competing are senior Carolina Perez (79/T23rd), junior Erin Matsuoka (80/T25th), and junior Corie Hou (83/32nd).
 
San Jose State shot a three-under, 285 and holds a 13-stroke lead over Idaho going into the second round. Contributing to their lead was SJSU's Katrina Delen Briones who fired a 67 and led the field with six birdies.
 
The tournament continues Tuesday with Round 2 beginning at 7:25 a.m.
