Game Notes
Tournament Bracket

RENO, Nev. – The University of Hawai`i men's basketball team kicks off the 2009 Western Athletic Conference Tournament with a preliminary round meeting with Fresno State on Tuesday, March 10. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. PT (4:30 HT) at the Lawlor Events Center.

UH finished in eight place in the WAC standings with a 5-11 mark. The No. 8 seed Bows will face the No. 9 Bulldogs, with the winner advancing to Thursday's quarterfinals where it will meet regular-season champion and No. 1 seed Utah State. UH last appeared in the play-in game in 2005, defeating San Jose State, 72-48. That was the 'Bows last win in the tournament as they have since dropped four straight.

The Bulldogs closed the season on the road with a pair of losses at Boise State and Idaho and have lost three straight. Fresno State dropped six of its last seven league games to finish last in the WAC standings, although they did upset second-place Nevada, 68-66 less than two weeks ago.

UH is on a four-game slide and its last win, ironically, came at Fresno State, 73-69, on Feb. 19 in a nationally televised game broadcast on ESPN2. All-WAC second team selection Roderick Flemings recorded 22 points and 12 rebounds in the win over the Bulldogs. This will be the third all-time meeting between the teams in the WAC Tournament with the series split.
